They're confirmed. I'll put them here to show them in percentage:
Elaine Bagshaw-148 Votes- 51%
Sara Scarlett- 92 Votes- 32%
RON- 44 Votes- 15%
Mohammad Ali- 4 Votes- 1%
Total- 288 Votes
The thing that got my attentions immediately was how few Liberal Youth members/voters there are. This tells us we've got a lot of work to do and need to leave petty arguing behind and get on with the job.
I myself voted RON, I felt both candidates were as bad- I mean as good as each other.
I did criticise Sara for the way I felt she had been undermining Elaine and the way she engaged in dirty campaigning, which I felt damaged LY's credibility and alienated voters. But at the end of the day she is clearly some one who can get a job done, not always the way other people want, but she gets it done and she does it well.
Elaine's had her leadership heavily criticised over the past year. For messing up last year's Freshers material and is blamed for the 16 resignations on the executive. But now I hope that those in the Exec that have been damaging her will stop playing factional war. Autumn Conference rejected the no-confidence motion and now the members have backed her for another year (notice the word year, please lets get through Autumn without a no-Confidence motion). She has the backing of LY so now it's time to move on.
The people we have on the Exec have a range of skills, and by pulling together we can really move LY forward. It's now time to accept the democratic decision of the voters and get on with our jobs.
