Considering Iraq was invaded in 2003 and Afghanistan 2001, but we've nearly left Iraq being replaced with a new Iraqi army we helped make, what about the Afghan Army?
"An influential Afghan minister has called on the West to allow local communities in Afghanistan to take over the fight against the Taleban." BBC
In Canada the Conservative minority Government had to compromise with the Liberal opposition in order to keep Canadian troops (who are in violent areas and suffered much) in Afghanistan by saying they will start to train the Afghan Army up to eventually replace the Canadians.
The Afghan minister has said how local communities traditionally did self defense and they should be trusted to fight the Taliban. It is the best way forward for us to be training the Afghan Army, as they surely know more about Afghanistan and how to deal with the Taliban.
